Dr. Hurlbut announces retirement from family practice after over 35 years of service in the medical field.
A message from Dr. Hurlbut:

After practicing medicine at Primary Care Partners for over 35 years, it has come time for me to announce my retirement at the end of February 2021. Thank you for entrusting me with your medical care. It has truly been my honor to serve you. I have many fond memories to cherish and, of course, continue to be excited about the future of medicine in Lincoln.
I encourage you to continue your care with Primary Care Partners, as I am confident that the practice continues to be ready to serve you and will assist you and any transitions to new providers after my retirement. I have confidence the caregivers at Primary Care Partners can provide continued quality care for you and your family.
Again, it has been my pleasure and privilege to care for you. I wish you and your family well.

Primary Care Partners would like to thank Dr. Hurlbut for his constant dedication to his patients and to the practice in Lincoln, NE. We congratulate him on his retirement and for his impressive, successful career in medicine. February 24th will be Dr. Hurlbut’s last day with patients, and February 26th, his last day at the practice.

Dr. Scott W. Wilson, MD
Dr. Wilson graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, in 1995. Dr. Wilson then earned his medical degree at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1999, completing his family medicine residency at the Lincoln Medical Education Program in 2002. Dr. Wilson was a staff physician at Family Health Physicians from 2002-2016 and Antelope Creek Family Physicians from 2016-2019, both in Lincoln.

Angela Zavala, DNP APRN FNP-C
Angela Zavala graduated in 2003 from Bryan College of Health Sciences with her diploma in nursing and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2005 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Having over fifteen years of nursing experience, she has worked in areas including adult and neonatal intensive care, as well as ambulatory surgery. She received a Doctorate of Nursing Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2018 from Nebraska Methodist College. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Ashley Gunderson, PA-C MPAS
Ashley is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology in 2009. She furthered her education at Des Moines University, where she received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies in 2012. She began her medical career working in primary care and emergency medicine in rural Nebraska. She furthered her career in the field of Ear, Nose, and Throat, where she practiced for 7 years. Ashley is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants.

Kerri Purkeypile, MSN APRN NP-C
Kerri graduated with her nursing degree from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. She spent 10 years working as a pediatric ICU and ER nurse, earning additional emergency and trauma certifications. She then graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. Since then, she has been working as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Lincoln. She has privileges at both St. Elizabeth and Bryan Hospitals. She enjoys all aspects of primary care, but especially working with her patients to keep themselves well through diet and exercise.

Kate Dannewitz, APRN-NP
Kate graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2002. In 2008 she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and began her nurse practitioner career in obstetrics and gynecology. She has been a nurse practitioner in Lincoln, NE, for over 12 years, including work at Homestead Rehabilitation Center, and most recently, at Holmes Lake Family Medicine. She transitioned into family practice in 2013, where she has enjoyed caring for patients of all ages. Kate is a board-certified nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
